Nvidia: X Startet nicht nach reboot.

Hallo, Folgendes passiert hier unter Debian lenny: Der original-NV-Treiber wurde mittels # NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.11-pkg1.run installiert. Als User "startx" eingeben ... wunderbar, es klappt. Doch am nächsten Tag begrüßt mich beim Systemstart die Meldung, das sich das X-System nicht starten lässt. Fehlerausgabe beim Aufruf von startx: [1] Die Infos in /var/log/Xorg.0 enthalten nur einige Warnungen: [2] (Im Ausgabefenster steht noch eine 1 in der letzten Zeile, nehme an der Aufruf von glx lieferte Fehler 1 zurück) Also gehe ich zum "nv" treiber in xorg.conf [3] über. Siehe da, X startet, die Fehlerausgabe (eine Warnung, ein Fehler glx modul) ist [4], in Xorg.0.log steht (außer einem Fontpfad) keine Warnung. So. Ich lasse jetzt nochmals die Installation # export CC=/usr/bin/gcc-4.1 # NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.11-pkg1.run durchlaufen ... done. Es wurde neu kompiliert und installiert. Übrigens wird ein großes Logfile generiert: [7] (leider finde ich mein Problem im FAQ des dort erwähnten /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README.txt nicht). Jetzt läuft X wieder mit "nvidia", Xorg.0.log ist nun: [5] Fehlerausgabe von startx ist nun: [6] der glx - Fehler ist weg. Bis zum nächsten Reboot :( Eine Beobachtung: Nach dem Reboot führt der Aufruf von glxinfo und anderen glx* Kommandos zu einem Speicherzugriffsfehler. Nach Neuinstallation des Treibers laufen die Demos etc. und ja auch das X. Die Installation von glx scheint nicht permanent zu sein. Woran kann das liegen? Längere Recherche ergab, daß die ffmpeg librarys aus multimedia es (jedenfalls hier) nicht mit nvidia tun. Da ich aber Programme aus diesem Bereich haben wollte (*), war ich über den Hinweis froh, daß es mit dem neuen Treiber doch wieder geht (und vlc läuft nun auch wieder). Sprich: ich brauche eine neuere Treiberversion als der Debian-way (momentan) erlaubt. Zudem wurmt es doch: glx-Programme laufen doch jetzt ... warum gibt es nach einem Reboot einen segfault? Gruß, Detlef (*) Downgrade auf eine niedrige Version, wie an einigen Stellen empfohlen wurde, führte dazu, daß ein ganzer Haufen Abhängigkeiten verletzt waren. Naja, Spass beiseite. Die nvidia-Pakete sind in non-free enthalten, non-free ist soweit ich weiss nicht auf den Installations-Medien drauf, ohne Netz wird das also aus dem Stand nix. Aber man kann sich die benoetigen Pakete ja auch haendisch runterladen und dann auf dem Rechner ohne Netz kopieren und mit dpkg installieren. Im Prinzip geht das ganze zumindest wenn man einen normalen Debian-Kernel nutzt auch noch einfacher als ich es erst schrieb da es die nvidia-Pakete ja auch schon passend zum kernel kompiliert gibt. Ich vergesse das immer weil ich doch desoefteren eigene kernel nutzte, dann geht man ueblicherweise ja ueber den module-assistant. Bei einem Debian-Kernel sollte also wohl folgendes reichen wenn denn alles vom nvidia.com-Installer deinstalliert ist: aptitude install nvidia-common nvidia-glx-legacy-96xx nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-$(uname -r) Ob man die legacy-Variante braucht haengt vom Alter der Karte ab, der OP hatte aber ja eine Geforce 4 MX, die faellt unter legacy. Und das gilt so auch nur fuer lenny, unter etch haben z.B. die legacy-Pakete keinen Versionsstring im Namen, also selber mit aptitude schauen was man nun wirklich braucht :) Zudem sollte zumindest unter etch die xorg.conf auch passen, da muss man also je nach dem ob was von nvidia.com installiert war noch ein dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg hinterschieben. Leider hat die von dort installierte Treiberversion Probleme mit dem Multimedia Repositorium (genauer mit ffmpeg daraus, z.B. funktioniert so vlc bei mir nicht). Deshalb meine Lösung am Paketmanager vorbei. Sobald es die debian-Pakete tun wechsle ich, versprochen :) Bis dahin wundert mich das verhalten von glx (daran scheints zu haken) weiterhin ... nach dem nächsten Reboot versuche ich mal herauszufinden, was da immer verschwindet oder sich verändert. Ich habe den NVIDIA-Treiber immer manuell installiert, weil die Debian-Variante nicht funktioniert hat. Bis ich in den Fehlermeldungen beim Start von X entdeckt habe, dass die API nicht zusammenpasst. Das Kernel-Modul und der Treiber hatten unterschiedliche Versionsnummern. Ich hab also den manuell installierten Kernel entfernt mit nvidia-installer --uninstall danach rebootet und dann den Rest der Anleitung gemacht. Jetzt läuft X. Was hätte ich da sonst noch tun können? Ein Reboot wegen einer Treiberinstallation missfällt mir arg... Jakob

Diesbezueglich sollte ein rmmod nvidia helfen, eventuell muss man auch ein nvidia-Skript stoppen, ich weiss jetzt gerade nicht ob es in init.d immer noch etwas nvidia-spezifisches gibt, frueher war das aber mal der Fall.
