I have xautolock and slock installed, and have tried to use this: xautolock -time 5 -locker slock for those times I walk away and forget to engage slock. But it doesn't work. Any idea why? I swear, it's on: tony@deathstar:~$ ps aux | grep xautolock tony 18390 0.0 0.0 2944 1044 pts/0 T 14:54 0:00 xautolock -time 5 -locker slock But I can walk away for 20 minutes (much more than the 5 min requested) and find my screen not locked. thanks for any assistance. /tony -- http://www.cafepress.com/binbeer 01001001 00100111 01101100 01101100 00100000 01110100 01100101 01101100 01101100 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01110111 01101000 01100001 01110100 00100000 01101001 01110100 00100000 01101101 01100101 01100001 01101110 01110011 00100000 01101001 01100110 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100111 01101100 01101100 00100000 01100010 01110101 01111001 00100000 01101101 01100101 00100000 01100001 00100000 01100010 01100101 01100101 01110010 00101110

No, but I can offer a solution. Try xscreensaver (and related). If you run Gkrellm, you can use Gkrellshoot to lock it at the click of a button, or it can be set up to autolock after inactivity. -- Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced. OP should also fill a bug report in order to get this fixed. Xavier -- Xavier Maillard maillaxa@gmail.com

Stupid question but are you sure slock is installed on your system ? I tried apt-get install slock and it returned an error (unknown package). I am testing it with xtrlock (recommended by xautolock) and it works perfectly well here. Xavier
